Report on the DEA Night 2015
Dhaka, 5 December, 2015:
The honorable members of the Board of Trustees of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Foundation Bangladesh (The DEA Foundation BD) hosted a reception function to honor the contributions of the Heads, Award Coordinators and Award Leaders of the partner educational institutions (Award Units) of The DEA Foundation BD at the Heritage Restaurant, Gulshan-2, on Saturday, 5 December, 2015. The British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, His Excellency Robert W Gibson CMG graced the occasion as Chief Guest and said that The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award not only formulate the life perfect of the youth but prepare them with humbleness and mannered way also.
In the welcome speech, host Mr. Sayeeful Islam, Honorable Chairman, Board of Trustees of The DEA Foundation BD and Managing Director of Concorde Garments Group welcomed honorable guests and thanked for attending the program. He also congratulated honorable members of Trustee Board, Executive Committee members, officials of the National Directorate office, Heads of the Award Units, Award Coordinators and Award Leaders for their passionate effort to help the youth of the country. Then the National Director, Prof. Dr. K. M. Shariful Huda stated the present status the Award in Bangladesh; whereas the Chairman of the Executive Committee, Mr. Rizwan Bin Farouq of The DEA Foundation BD forwarded his valuable insights.
The occasion became a meeting place of prominent personalities of the society. Among the honorable members of Trustee Board of The DEA Foundation BD, Mr. A. K. Shamsuddin Khan, Chairman, A K Khan Group and Mr. Abrar A Anwar, CEO, Standard Chartered Bangladesh were present in the event. Besides, members of Executive Committee of The DEA Foundation BD also joined the program.
Among the honorable guests, Prof. Dr. Gour Gabinda Goswomi, Vice Chancellor of North South University, Prof. Dr. Imran Rahman, Vice Chancellor of ULAB, Brig Gen (Rtd.) Kaiser Ahmed, Principal of Scholastica, Ms. Lubna Chowdhury, Principal of Bangladesh International Tutorial, Lt. Col. Akhter Shahid PSC, Principal of Faujdarhat Cadet College, Ms. Fatima Hussein, Head of Education of The Aga Khan School and Ms. Khadija Afzal, Head of Secondary of Chittagong Grammar School were present at the occasion and kept their valuable speech stating their experiences and status of the Award in their respective institutions. Award Coordinators and Award Leaders from almost all partner institutions attended the program.
On the same day morning the First National Conference was held in the same venue where Award Coordinators and Award Leaders gathered from partner institutions and exchanged their experiences operating the Award in their respective institutions.
Before closing the DEA Night, some Award participants performed an entertaining cultural show.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees handed over a crest to the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, HE Robert W Gibson CMG in presence of the members of Board of Trustees, Executive Committee and National Director.
