A very happy New Year’s greetings to all of the readers from the desk of Editors! The Duke of
Edinburgh’s Award Foundation Bangladesh has just completed a successful year, like wise
earlier. It is a remarkable milestone for the Foundation that it engaged 86 Award Units till
date under its Award operation in which 12 new Institutions throughout the year of 2016.
And, 164 participants from different Award Units were awarded with the Gold Standard
Certificate on December 05, 2016 at the residence of British High Commissioner to
Bangladesh. Besides, to secure 20% marginalized and/or at risk youth of the total
enrolment- The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Foundation Bangladesh has been working with
intense attention and over 200 marginalized participants completed their Award last year.

Heartiest Greetings to the readers. Recently, an Adventurous Journey was
completed by the under privileged children of Jaago Foundation. The Duke of
Edinburgh’s Award Foundation Bangladesh enrolled 7.8% marginalized
youth out of total till now. The readers must be happy to hear that the flag of The
Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Foundation Bangladesh is reached even to the remote
hill tracks in Khagrachari Cantonment Public School. Congratulations to the
Team DEA. Recently, in an Award Conferral Ceremony in University of
Liberal Arts Bangladesh, Nawab Khawja Habibullah Askari, Member, Board of
Trustees of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Foundation Bangladesh attended
and graced the ceremony as Chief Guest. Awardees got more encourage and
inspiration getting with the members of Board of Trustees. Likewise, other issues
this newsletter will display to you some glimpse of the inspirational stories of the

This issue of newsletter of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Foundation Bangladesh comes
to you with fresh greetings. The stand of the foundation is now stronger in Sylhet region. Since
initiation of the Award programme in Cadet Colleges, 27 Cadets of Sylhet Cadet College just
have awarded for the first time ever with the Bronze Standard Certificates. The Awardees
walked with the Award programme in appropriate pace. Their Adventurous Journey became
significantly memorable when the Principal joined them. Besides, two new feathers have colored the
crown of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Foundation Bangladesh. Unit Operator’s Licenses
were signed with Metropolitan University, Sylhet and Royal Institute of Smart Education (RISE
School). This month will be ended with a two days long Award Leaders’ Training in UTSHO
Bangladesh, Gazipur under the International Special Project addressing “Marginalized” and/or
“At Risk” youth. Best wishes to the new Award Leaders. This issue let you know some exciting

Dear readers, greetings of Bengali New Year: Shuvo Nabobarsho to all from the Editors’ desk. This Editorial starts with merriment that a magnificent feather is going to be added around very near with the crown of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Foundati on Bangladesh. Two of our Gold Awardees, Ms. Kareen Bayazid from BIT, Dhaka and Ms. Amreen Nasreen from CGS, Chittagong are going to attend the 60th Anniversary Gold Award Presentation eremony in UK at Buckingham Palace to receive their respective Gold St andard Certificates on May 16, 2016. The Evaluation Session of these two is successfully completed.

It is a matter of pride that The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Foundation Bangladesh has finally achieved the full licence from the International Award Authority in The Forum -2015 hosted by the Award in Canada and arranged in the city of Toronto.

Being the Chief Guest HRH Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex handed over the full licence to the National Director for Bangladesh (in page 4).

Greetings and Eid wishes to all the readers from the desk of the Editors Recently , the DEA_BD organized the 3rd Gold Award Ceremony at the residence of HE Mr. Robert W Gibson, CMG, the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh.It was the largest ever gathering in terms of the number of Gold Award recipie nts. Certainly, it will be a red letter day in the lives of the Gold Awardees We convey our heartiest congratulations to all the Gold A ward holders and their proud parents.

It’s a red letter day for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Foundation, Bangladesh unit when it graciously earned the accolade of getting the Full license from the International Award Authority officially in March 22,With this recognition, the Banglades h chapter enters only in 9 countries out of 145 participating nations worldwide. Mr Rob Oliphant, the Regional Programme Manager expressed his deep satisfaction after the end of the validation visit made in January this year.

Editor’s Letter

Autumn greetings from the desk of the editor! The National Award Authority (NAA) of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Foundation Bangladesh is passing moments of truth for its preparation to appear at a validation visit made by the International Award Authority early next year. Meanwhile, the National Director will represent Bangladesh in the upcoming International Gold Event and Asia Pacific Regional (APR) Meeting to be held in Seoul in late October. Like yesteryear, I do hope the Bangladesh contingent will make an impact this year as well.

Truly, the  activities in different segments of DEA award shape the participants in a manner that they find themselves socially responsible. In other words, they find a way to discover their hidden potential. They take pride with their new-found skill when they see it touches lives of the people living in outskirts of the city.
